The Significant Code Review – a step forward for decarbonisation?

Thursday 12th November @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

We are expecting Ofgem to publish it’s minded-to decision on their Access and Forward-Looking Charges Significant Code Review (SCR) within weeks.

Regen has been following the process since it’s inception in 2017. The new proposals to be set out in Ofgem’s minded-to decision could result in significant changes and big implications on the way electricity network customers pay for the networks.

We are likely to see winners and losers as a result of the charging decisions (including distributed renewable energy generators), however, other elements of the review, such as the distribution connection boundary, could be an important step forward towards a new era of electrification and renewable energy generation.

The event will hear from leading industry players and policy makers to discuss the implications of the SCR on network customers and crucially how it does or doesn’t support the net-zero and decarbonisation.

Poppy Maltby, senior project manager at Regen, highlights some of the big questions to look out for in her blog, ‘Access Significant Code Review: a damp squib or heralding a new era of decarbonisation?

We will be joined by:

  • Graham Campbell, head of Distribution System Operations, SP Energy Networks
  • Jon Parker, head of electricity network access, Ofgem
  • Robyn Lucas, head of data science, Open Energi
  • Paul Hewett, chief executive, Belltown Power UK
