PreCURe - Uncover the potential of your Research to make a difference.
Make a difference by applying your Research! Funded by Innovate UK, PreCURe is a 7 week sprint programme for research students
March 16th, 2022
The BIEE’s Energy seminar series aims to promote discussion of broader issues of energy policy, cutting across sectoral concerns, in an independent and non-partisan environment. The seminars feature speaker presentations as well as an opportunity for audience members to participate in extended Q&A and contribute to the discussion.
The BIEE’s first webinar in 2022 will explore the topic of heat decarbonisation and the need to increase our understanding of our homes and how people use heat, with guest speakers:
Maxine Frerk (Grid Edge Policy)
Guy Newey (Energy Systems Catapult)
A ‘one size fits all’ won’t work for heat decarbonisation
Heat decarbonisation is one of the biggest challenges facing the UK in terms of meeting net zero. The reason that it is so difficult is that it involves making fundamental changes in almost every home across the country. While much work has been done on the technical merits of hydrogen versus electrification much less work has been done on understanding the differences in people’s homes, their behaviours and use of heat.
Speakers
Maxine Frerk, Grid Energy Policy / Director
Guy Newey, Energy Systems Catapult / Director of Strategy and Performance
Chair
Yelena Kalyuzhnova, Henley Business School, University of Reading / Vice Dean (International)
