Talk 1: Empowering Future Energy Networks: Unleashing the Potential of Storage and Flexibility
Bio: Ali Ehsan is a Senior Researcher in Future Energy Networks at the University of Manchester. His research focusses on using probabilistic methods to model risk and uncertainty in interdependent and interconnected energy networks. He received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Zhejiang University, China. He has experience contributing to a number of key research projects supported by a variety funding bodies, including EU Horizon, EPSRC. National Natural Science Foundation of China and National Key Research and Development Program of China. He has several international publications and have spoken at leading energy system conferences. His research interests include multi-vector energy networks, uncertainty modelling, probabilistic planning and optimization, and renewable distributed generation.
Talk 2 :Energy storage in a Net Zero energy system
Bio: Dr Dan Murrant leads Energy System Catapult’s projects providing modelling, analysis and insight into the role of energy storage, flexible technologies, and energy networks within complex multi-vector future energy systems. He also provides expertise in these topics to other business areas within ESC. A chartered engineer, he is an experienced subject matter expert with over 10 years’ experience in renewable energy systems, energy system flexibility and electricity networks. He has previously held roles at the University of Birmingham and National Grid ESO. Dan holds a PhD in the Water-energy nexus from the University of Birmingham.
Chair: Dr Amruta P Joshi, Assistant Professor (Research Focused), University of Warwick.
