Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Materials for Energy Storage
About the Role
A Postdoctoral Research Assistant position is available in the School of Engineering and Materials Science at Queen Mary University of London under the supervision of Dr Ana Jorge Sobrido, as part of a recently funded UKRI Future Leader Fellowship research programme on Sustainable Materials for Advanced Flow Batteries.
About You
The successful candidate should hold a PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science or any other relevant subject. The candidate should be able to provide evidence of expertise in materials synthesis and characterisation, and a willingness to develop expertise in all areas that will be required for the project. Experience in electrochemical characterization techniques, and in particular energy storage is essential. Experience in redox flow batteries is highly desirable. Self-motivation and ability to work as part of a team are essential.
About the School
This post is within the School of Engineering and Materials Science, a large School with 70-80 academics and a similar number of postdoctoral research staff. The successful candidate will join a team of 8 PhD students working on materials for energy storage and conversion applications. The successful candidate will conduct redox flow battery testing in freestanding electrospun materials developed by another PDRA, who has already been working on the project for a year. An additional PDRA will be appointed soon after to conduct in situ electrochemical testing of the materials, bringing together an exciting team that is expected to work closely as part of this UKRI FLF research programme.
