We are delighted to welcome Dr. Maria Crespo-Ribadeneyra from Queen Mary University of London as the presenter, who will share her insights and expertise in scientific design.

Introduction to Dr. Maria Crespo-Ribadeneyra:

Maria did her PhD in Madrid (Universidad Carlos III) on multifunctional nanocabon composites before moving to London with a Marie Curie Fellowship to study the photocleavable functionalisation of graphene oxide for switchable composite coatings. After this first postdoctoral experience, Mariachanged her research path towards sustainable materials for energy storage: redox-flow batteries, supercapacitors, and sodium-ion batteries. Her group is interested in producing and upcycling low-cost materials for all these applications and understanding how their surface chemistry can affect performance and lifetime. She is also interested in proposing manufacturing methods for devices using these tailored-made materials. Maria is very interested in outreach and in visually translating complex scientific concepts into images for the public. She participated in the last edition of the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition with the stand ‘FutureBatt: meet tomorrow’s batteries today’.
